In April 2016, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, my mom’s cancer was discovered early and with fast-acting treatment and amazing doctors, she is cancer-free today.
Upon her diagnoses, we learned her cancer was not genetic, but most likely environmental. I quickly began researching ways I could prevent getting cancer. One of the methods I discovered was switching to safer beauty products.
Discovering Beautycounter
I learned about Beautycounter from a friend who was also a consultant. I asked her for some samples but wasn’t expecting much. I’d tried other products that were alternative options before and had been less than impressed by the performance. However, with Beautycounter it was different.
I loved the quality and after using the face cleanser and moisture lotion, I saw a real improvement in my skin. I couldn’t believe all the years I had used more expensive and harsher products. Now I had a safer, higher performing option. What a win!
Beautycounter’s Social Mission
The more I used the products and tried new ones, the more I fell in love with the company. It’s not only the products I love. The company’s mission and message are admirable. Beautycounter is trying to change an industry by creating and distributing safer products, educating the public about the need for safer products, and urging the government to pass laws to better regulate the beauty industry.
Right now in the U.S., it is completely legal for companies to use toxic chemicals in the products we put on our bodies every day – even if the ingredients are linked to cancer or other health problems. Beautycounter has a “Never List” of 1,500 ingredients they will never use. They are constantly reviewing data and innovating their products, packaging and the way they conduct business.
Becoming a Beautycounter Consultant
Even with all the things I have going on in my life, raising a family and running my real estate company with Aaron full time, something inside me kept saying I wanted to be part of this organization to help spread the word. After a lot of thought, I decided to become a consultant.
I’m having a great time being a Beautycounter consultant. I love talking to people about my favorite lines. It’s very exciting to hear people positively react to the products when I give them samples. I like knowing I’m helping someone take a step to being healthier.
I’m also doing this for my two daughters. I worry so much about their health and what they are being exposed to in the environment. Beautycounter has wonderful baby and kid’s lines. Mia and Lana love that they are using the same, healthy products as me. It’s setting a good example for them to seek out better options as they begin to make their own choices.
Please reach out to me if you’re interested in trying samples of Beautycounter, or learning more about the business. Part of being your best self is using products that are better for you.
